Abstract

(External link!) Krabat is a fantasy novel written by Otfried Preußler.

I found the story fascinating, albeit quite illogical: 12 apprentices work at the mill. Each year one dies, each year a new one appears with a start age of 14, each year all of them age by 3 years.

After 30 years there can be an apprentice who is 101 years old:
